Landy,
Sorry for having taken so long to thank you for a super golf experience in Costa Rica. Everything was planned and executed with amazing professionalism. We did, however, have one slight little inconvenience with the golfing days, in it was related to our scores. Such great golf courses deserve much better players.
Just kidding. Thanks again for your personal attention and hope to meet you in the short future.
Regards to your wife.

Hi, Landy.
Kath and I arrived back in the US last night after a terrific trip to Costa Rica. Everything went well, and everyone was expecting us just right. Drivers were very pleasant, though only a couple spoke much English. It was very nice not to have to drive.
The Springs was amazing. What a gorgeous facility. Everywhere we went the staff were friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed the golf, too. Only a few sprinkles of rain, and that was at Cariari, and presented no problems--did not last even 2 holes. Pretty darn hot to play golf in Guanacaste, but the golf courses were very nice and we could find breezes as needed. Tamarindo was also fun, as was the catamaran sailing adventure. And the Four Seasons golf course was beyond beautiful. Very nice golf course. They had just punched the greens, and they were letting them grow, so they were slow. But what views!
I wanted to say thank you for all your arrangements. Also thank you for your gift bag with all the goodies from Costa Rica Golf Adventures. We were grateful for all of it. The trip was a very nice way to celebrate our 30 years together. I am sure we will return to Costa Rica sometime soon.
  Best regards, and Pura Vida.

Hi Landy,
Sorry for the delayed response. Rollercoaster of family deaths and illness on both sides have taken a lot of time away from us.
First, I want to thank you for both of us for all that you and Susan did to make our five weeks visit to Costa Rica enjoyable, safe and filled with memories. You and your organization are first class.
I have already referred you to several people who will, hopefully, say they heard about you from us.
The Rio Tropicales whitewater rafting trip down the Pacuare River was a definite highlight of our vacation. Travel to/from the river, was safe and adventurous. Descending a mountain road in the rain by tractor driven wagon was quite an experience. Our guides were informative, welcoming, helpful, calming and good cooks. Beside the fact that they trained us and guided us safely down class1-4 rapids of one of the top five rated white water rafting rivers in the world. it was an exciting, wild, fun filled, awesome views of the rain forest trip down the river.
Our only suggestion is to ensure that one brings a dry towel for use at the nature center at the end of the trip. Food at the nature center was splendid, Also, our overnight stay at the nature lodge was very comfortable and somewhat revealing of what life may be like for the aboriginal people living in the rain forest.
We highly recommend this rafting trip and the Rio Tropicales organization. Another note, our valuable were well secured and kept dry by the guides.
You have our permission to use the above comments in your business endeavours.

Landy, this is a very belated thank you for the wonderful trip you organized for us in Coast Rica. Both hotels were great. We enjoyed the fact that they were not Americanized. The drivers were great. The meal suggestion were perfect. (We celebrated our anniversary two times – both places you suggested). I know you mentioned that the chocolate tour was a new one for you. I think anyone would love that and the lunch there was fantastic. From the time we met you at the hotel for drinks till we departed it was all awesome. We have some great pictures and memories.
We can’t say enough good about you. We did pass on your info to a few other people. If anyone ever wants a recommendation don’t hesitate to let them get in touch with us.

Costa Rica Golf Adventures was over the top Fantastic in helping us plan our Golf Trip AND Vacation to Costa Rica.
Landy Blank and his wife, Susan, researched, set up and coordinated almost everything for us. Plus, they saved us money! They arranged transportation, T Times, hotels, excursions, etc. And they used their discounts at several of the golf courses and hotels to pass on savings to us.
They were extremely responsive and communicative. We always knew what was happening and what to expect. They saved us from various pitfalls that travelers to unknown countries may fall prey (like the mandatory insurance cost on a rental cost being more than the rental cost of the car!).
They acted much more like friends trying to arrange the best experience for us - as opposed to an impersonal broker or an agent. They spent a lot of time tailoring our activities and coordinating our schedule to our unique travel desires - even arranging mid-trip changes to our itinerary. On top of all that, they provided above and beyond personal service for us - dining with us, transporting us, providing us a goodie bag, and most significantly taking care of my significant other who had a sudden medical issue, etc. etc.

AAAAAA++++++++++  Best golf or travel agent experience I have had in my life!
Not only would I recommend them to anyone, I would say that if you are interested in having any component of your trip to Costa Rica involve golf, you would be crazy not to contact Landy. In fact, as Landy handles other excursions in Costa Rica, so I would contact him for any travel I was doing in Costa Rica.

(I submitted this to Trip Advisor and quite frankly did a review of Tee Times Costa Rica – obviously a very Negative review based on our experience with them.)

Landy -
I've now been back in the states for about a week and I thought I'd reach out and thank you for everything you did to help make our time away enjoyable.
We enjoyed both the courses you arranged for us to play. Also, thanks for the recommendation to play Conchal twice - it was beautiful. I will say, we enjoyed the greens more so at Pinilla, as they were a little more challenging, but no regrets. The transportation you arranged was also great - Paul, Danielle, and the gang from XPlore were very accommodating. Each day they were prompt and we never had a concern.
At the end of the day, I don't think it could have gone any smoother. We considered picking up a fourth round while there, but opted for a day at the beach.
We will definitely be back and will call on you. Thank you again - from the recommendations, to booking the tee times, to arranging the transportation. We sincerely appreciate it!

"Landy - this has been the most fantastic week! The catamaran your and crew were awesome, the golf course here is fabulous and I've been making friends with the macaw and the toucan! I have fabulous photos!! Fireworks twice this week at the resort. Lovely day at Manuel Antonio and stopped at Le Avian ;)
But the ATV tour wins!! Freaking fantastic!! We were tired, filthy and happy when we got back from that!!
Planning a 8:30 am departure to head to Cariari CC in the morning. We found out about no street signs trying to get out of San Jose last week - so we have a buffer for tomorrow!!!
Looking forward to seeing you!" Angel and Robert

Hi Landy
Just got home and recovering from a bruising last couple of days travelling across New York and the Atlantic. Wanted to say how much we enjoyed Costa Rica and how outstandingly good your arrangements for us turned out. Everything went like clockwork and you got the balance of golf and sightseeing just right.
If we had to do the trip again, I guess we’d substitute 2 days at La Conchal for 2 days at either the Marriott at their course or even better 2 extra days at the 4 Seasons which we thought was an outstanding hotel and superb course.
We may wish to add a week at the 4 Seasons after/if we spend a couple of months at Black Diamond in October/November 2015 – would you be happy to quote us for that ? In the meantime, we send you our heartfelt thanks and best wishes.

Landy,
I want to first thank you for arranging a fabulous vacation. We both enjoyed it very much. We will be back.
Things we loved:

  • The people. They are warm and friendly. We felt very safe and welcome.
  • Of course, the whole country is beautiful. It was nice to see the varying contrasts on our journey. San Jose was good. What we liked most was the Cariari Country Club course.
  • Montana del Fuego was very nice and relaxing. The rooms and grounds were beautiful. The tour guide on the hanging bridges tour was exceptional. We felt like we saw a glimpse of real life in Costa Rica.
  • The Westin Resort is fabulous. The food was great and all the employees working inside the resort itself were wonderful. A little more casual than we expected and hotter also. That worked well because Bob doesn't really like to get dressed up.
  • The Blue Dolphin excursion was perfect. The guys on the boat were great.

Landy,
I cannot begin to thank you enough for planning such a wonderful trip for Lauren and Me. Even the weather was perfect! Every detail, every hotel, every transfer and activity was perfect and we could not have asked for more. I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into planning a great trip for us. Saying the trip exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. I was somewhat skeptical of putting our trip (and safety) in the hands of someone I had only spoken to on the phone; literally, I could not have planned a better vacation for myself if I tried and even in retrospect we would not have changed anything about the trip. Well... maybe somehow tried to stay for longer....
Thank you again. If you ever head out this way you have two friends in Phoenix!

Subject: Our April 2011 Costa Rica Vacation
Hi Landy,
Karen & I wanted to thank you for the fantastic work you did in setting up our recent Costa Rica vacation. We had a wonderful week of relaxation at the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort. From the time we arrived at the Liberian airport to departure, we and our group were treated first class. At our special request through you, our suite was in a quite location overlooking a lake and the golf course. The transfer/transportation group (Denise and her company Xplore Tours) and our guides Eugene, Alex and Paul were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate any of our request, even at the last minute. They were all also very knowledgeable regarding Costa Rica’s history and geography adding in a lot of “local” color and flavor. Your recommendations of activities such as the Sunset Cruise and tour of the Palo Verde National Park complemented our days off from some fantastic golf. Also, we really appreciated having all your in country contact info and prompt availability when needed, reinsurance if something unexpected would happen (which of course did not).
A job well done! We would highly recommend your services to others. Thanks for possibly the most relaxing vacation of our life’s thus far……………….

Subject: George and I had a great time in Costa Rica
Hi Landy -
George and I had a great time in Costa Rica. Of course, my hole in one was an added bonus!!!! Carlos Rojas took a few pictures of me and said he was going to put it in the Reserva Conchal Facebook page. I did a search on facebook, but cannot find the page. Do you happen to know what it is? Can you e-mail me the link. We have a facebook page that is under George Craig.
Thanks for setting everything up for our trip. It was fun golfing with you, I imagine you would have probably been under par had you had your own clubs!!!!
  Once again, Thanks for everything......Donna

Added note to Donna's referrer copied to us:  Thanks for recommending Landy to help us plan our Costa Rica golf vacation. He even played golf with us the first day we were there. We had a great time in Costa Rica. We ended up playing 11 rounds in one week. 7 at Reserva Conchal, 2 at Hacienda Pinilla and 2 at the Four Seasons. We stayed at the Four Seasons the last night we were there and the rest of the time at the Reserva Playa Conchal resort. The room we were supposed to have was over booked, so we were upgraded to the presidential suite!!!!
The courses were great. Maybe next time we will go during the rainy season. I'm curious how the courses would be with thick jungle instead of the drier jungle that we experienced. We did hear some weird sounds coming from the trees, especially at the Four Seasons course, what ever was making one of the sounds, we did not want to run into.
We liked the Four Seasons course the best, but the greens were better at Reserva Conchal. Landy made all of our arrangements as far as booking tee times, hotel and transportation. He arranged for us to stop at Tamarindo beach where we watched the sunset and had dinner on the beach. This was after we played two rounds at Hacienda Pinilla. The weather was great, being from Arizona, we are used to the warm weather, it was in the 90's and the humidity was only around 40-50, so it was pretty nice.
Of course....getting the hole in one just added to the great vacation. Thanks, Donna

Subject: Our trip

Hi Landy and Carla!
Thank you both for all your help, we loved all of the parts of our trip. We felt very comfortable knowing that Landy was an email or call away. Landy, you have established quite a nice reputation around Guanacaste, and I'm guessing Susan deserves a lot of the credit. The sunset cruise was a great addition and our crew was especially nice, they bent over backward to make sure that we had everything that we needed.
Denise must run a very good operation as our transfers/guides, Eugene, William and Alex, were all timely, protective and very pleasant. Alex was very cheery after a very long day taking us back to the Paradisus. Please pass our thanks on to Denise if you would.
The Four Seasons turned out to be spectacular and we played well, but Chandler and I were very happy that we were staying at the Paradisus, much more manageable size with lots of variety. We loved the evening shows, with a little nightcap or two. The (sort of) Royal "Service" needs a little help but I'm guessing that the Westin will change all of that. We loved our villa close to the ocean but I have a feeling that if you are part of the Royal Service you should probably stay in one of the 2 towers within the Royal Service area.
And BTW: The gift bags were great and I still have some of the golf balls that you surprised us with, but Chandler is still wondering about those damn purple trees.
  Muchas Gracias, George and Chandler

Jan. 2011 - Two letters from happy members of a large group from Finland and Estonia, "Happy Hour was very much appreciated (about 50 bottles of wine worth).....Golf courses were just beautiful...."
Hi Landy, Thank you once again for everything you went through for us. It was very much appreciated among the group. We really enjoyed the stay in CR.
You asked me to give you some feedback about our stay; I do not think that we have anything to complain about all the arrangement. Everything was fine and very well organized and punctual. We felt very welcome from the very beginning. Happy Hour was very much appreciated (about 50 bottles of wine worth) and the second floor almost only for us was nice. Golf courses were just beautiful and hotel were nice. Not the most modern but absolutely served their purpose well in every respect.
All in all everything was much better than expected. We probably were waiting for “maniana” attitude but that was not what we got.
I have included Antero Paalanen to this e-mail). He was supposed to be our group leader but just one day before the trip he hurt his leg. Doctor was not advising long flight with injured leg and that’s why he stayed at home. He is the one that organizes these kind of golf tours almost as a profession and I am sure that after hearing our experience of CR he wants to organize another trip to your beautiful country. Therefore it’s most evidently useful that you both know of each other addresses.
It was nice to learn to know you and thank you for everything. We are looking forward to have you here in Finland some day.

Jan. 2011 - "So, thank you so much for making our trip to Costa Rica such a wonderful experience! We loved everything and can't wait to come back again!"
I just wanted to tell you what an absolutely fabulous job you did setting up our trip through Costa Rica! The Springs Resort is exceptional. Not only beautiful but everyone there was wonderful to deal with. And special thanks for the spa credit! We had a wonderful couples massage which was really great to have after having spent the day on the "duckie" river adventure! We also did the suspension bridge tour while we were there. Coming from Park City, we really didn't think the food prices were bad. They have an excellent chef! The dinner menu's were fabulous.
Tamarindo was also great! We loved being right on the beach and having an ocean view! It was great to be able to walk around the town. There were many good restaurants and great little shops. We did a zip line there along with our scuba dive up in Flamingo.
I especially appreciated how thoroughly you set up the GPS for us. I don't think we would have made it without it! Especially going to Marks course and then to the hotel in San Jose. It was a life saver!
So, thank you so much for making our trip to Costa Rica such a wonderful experience! We loved everything and can't wait to come back again! Sue O'Nan

Jan. 2011 - "It was a great trip and we certainly enjoyed Costa Rica."

Landy, I know my wife e-mailed you to thank you for the great trip and now that I have plowed through all the stuff that didn’t take care of itself, I have the time to thank you also. It was a great trip and we certainly enjoyed Costa Rica. Without the GPS, driving could have been a nightmare. The hotels were great; especially the Springs Resort and we enjoyed everything at the Dira in Tamarindo. The negative comments about Tamarindo were made by whinny pussies. We came to Costa Rica without any expectations and wanted to experience the culture. We certainly did; stopping at road side restaurants, bars and using both hotel and local eating establishments. 99% of everyone we came in contact with was helpful. The food and liquid refreshments were always good and we didn’t experience any problems. I expect to come back for a visit in the near future. Again, thank you for all your help and advise, Chuck

"...an unforgettable experience.."
Returned home March 24th, 2010, to the northern Canadian winter after an awesome 2 weeks at Playa Conchal Resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
I booked the resort through Landy Blank, who also arranged for a couple of rounds of golf at Hacienda Pinilla. I am fairly certain Landy did a little introductory work on my behalf at the Reserva Conchal Golf Club as I have never had better treatment at any golf course than what I experienced at Reserva Conchal this trip. The Director of Golf Carlos Rojas and his guys really know how to make a person feel welcome.
All booking arrangements through Landy went without a hitch and the trip went smoothly, with a great room at the Playa Conchal, a great welcome at the Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club, and an unforgettable experience at the Reserva Conchal Golf Club. I will most definitely contact Landy for future trips to Costa Rica.
Thanks Landy. It was really a pleasure. Perhaps next time we'll have a round of golf y una cerveza.

Colorado Avid Golfer Magazine

Some gringos - and the number is growing daily - have grown so attached to the country they have simply pulled up roots and relocated. Blank is one of those gringos who got in close to the ground floor. A native Pennsylvanian and former defensive back at North Carolina in the 1960's, Blank and his wife Susan fell in love with the country during their visits there in the early 1990's. With his contacts in the golf industry, the incredible landscapes, the gringo-friendly environment, the existing courses, and the knowledge that several large companies had already planned golf destinations for the country led him to believe there was a market that needed promotion. And he and his wife were just the team to get it done. Blank's company (www.golfcr.com, 877-536-8510) is sort of a one-stop shop for golf tourists considering a junket to Costa Rica. He won't personally be with you every step of the way as he was while serving as my host, but he or a member of his staff is a phone call away. And, because I was able to spend quality time with Blank while he served as my national golf tour guide, I saw with my own eyes that he has the knowledge, power and connections to fulfill nearly any travel request and to clear away any possible hurdles.

Costa Rica - A Land Discovered Waiting To Be Revealed
With the popularity of golf emerging in Costa Rica, there are bound to be a growing number so-called "experts." Costa Rica is a small country but one in which you can easily be misguided unless dealing with someone who knows the people, the best way to plan your experience and their way around the roads. Forget the Yahoo maps! The track record in this department goes to Costa Rica Golf Vacations. "Not only do you get our eight years of experience but you actually save money using our services," says owner Landy Blank. "Most of all, one shouldn't discount that we're a local phone call away for any assistance."
By Robert Kaufman January, 2004 issue of Houston Golf magazine.

Costa Rica, where golf takes its place amid nature's splendor
"People in the golf business don't want to hear this," says Landy Blank, an American expatriate who makes his living here selling golf equipment and arranging golf tours, "but I want people to come here, enjoy what Costa Rica has to offer, and play a little golf." You don't have to worry about being hustled all the time," Blank says of Costa Rican hospitality. "You don't have to put up with that. It's not part of the culture here."

Costa Rica Golf Association Testimonials:

By Alan B. Nichols, Golf Travel Reviews www.golflink.com
Costa Rica's golf industry is still in its formative stages, making it comparable to that of Puerto Rico 50 years ago. That is not to say golf in Costa Rica is not outstanding. There are only six 18-hole golf courses in the entire country and all of them meet world class standards for quality of routing, maintenance and turf conditions, according to Landy Blank, founder of Costa Rica Golf Adventures Travel, the leading golf tour operator and golf equipment distributor in the country. Attractive packages which include lower course fees are available through Costa Rica Golf Adventures

There are few better courses than the year-old Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Garra de León Campo de Golf at the Paradisus Playa Conchal Golf Beach & Golf Resort on the Pacific side of the country.
If one likes to walk, the George Fazio-designed Cariari Country Club in San José has caddies. The ones we had read the greens to near perfection. Joining us at Cariari was Landy Blank, who moved to Costa Rica two years ago to form his Costa Rica Golf Adventures company. He has several golf and sightseeing packages, and because he lives there, he knows the ins and outs of the country.

In Pursuit of Pura Vida
The unspoiled beauty of Costa Rica extends beyond the rain forests and volcanoes to the virtual nonexistence of addresses. Directions often sound something like, "The restaurant is three hundred meters south of the church that burned down five years ago." How to proceed? You can work with your hotel's concierge or call ahead. A better bet: Enlist a tour operator, such as Costa Rica Golf Adventures. CRGA will arrange all accommodations, golf itineraries and activities. Contact CRGA at 888-536-8510, or by e-mail, golf@crgolf.com.

Costa Rica: Golf on the Wild Side
By Dale Leatherman, Links Magazine, Nov. 2002
"There are dozens of great locations for a golf vacation but few galleries can match ours,” says Blank, who has seen a ten-fold increase in the number of golf and adventure trips his company arranges. “It's a bit like playing golf in the zoo, with howler monkeys, sloths and other creatures watching you from the jungle. The courses are world-class, you are surrounded by natural beauty, and the non-golf activities are as good as any in the world. When you mix in the warmth and hospitality of the Costa Rican people, you have the ingredients for a extraordinary golf experience."
